Film expert and Menands Public Library Director Lenny Zapala is offering the last of a five-installment series with the movie Double Indemnity. With this movie, Film Noir becomes respectable. Double Indemnity was nominated for seven Oscars but won none. In the film, insurance salesman Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) falls hard for Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck), but the only way he can have Phyllis is to kill her husband and collect the life insurance Neff sold to him. Getting greedy, he added a double indemnity clause. Phyllis and Walter come up with plans that will double the policy's payout. The movie is directed by Billy Wilder. Don’t forget Lenny’s introduction and comments after the films!
