A member of New York State's Baseball Hall of Fame, Jesse Braverman has coached baseball for many years. Wanda Fischer began following the nation's pastime when she wasn't even eight years old, when girls had few options to play sports and girls didn't follow the game. Braverman wrote "Comeback Coach," a memoir about the challenges and rewards of his coaching years (he still coaches at Lasalle in Troy). Fischer wrote a novel focusing on characters she created, who were drafted to play minor league baseball in 1972, and the roadblocks they faced in trying to make it to the major league.
