Schenectady native and engineer-turned-author Michael Davi describes a most unusual 40-year engineering career at General Electric in his new book PrivileGEd. Fate and circumstance afforded him opportunities denied others as he became the first in his family to graduate college. Earning an engineering degree was the crucial break that opened doors never dreamed of by him or his four immigrant grandparents – each of whom was employed by GE at some point in their lives. Extraordinary work assignments, business travel to four continents, flights aboard corporate jets, and working alongside some of the top GE talent are all part of the story. Michael’s tale brims with fascinating characters, global adventure, drama, success, tragedy, disappointments, and rebounds – all of which he hopes will encourage another generation to consider technology careers. Through highs and lows, Michael’s story captures his unique experience as part of the American Dream.
