This talk is about that aspect of the Saratoga Campaign of 1777 in which Lt. Col. Baum and about 800 German,British, Canadian, American and native troups sought supplies believed to be vulnerable in Bennington. The speaker will discuss the route taken by this army along with descriptions of the terrain and other incidents on the march. Presented by Patrick Niles. Mr. Niles is a public school teacher of American history and related subjects. He has worked as a volunteer and tour guide at Rogers Island, Saratoga Battlefield and Lake George Battlefield. He is a past president of the Washington County Historical Society and is the author of "Baum's March to Disaster" in the 2014 Journal of the Washington County Historical Society.
